Ozempic® – Side Effects

Important information for Slim Clinic patients

At Slim Clinic, your safety is our top priority. Ozempic® (semaglutide) is a highly effective treatment for managing blood sugar and supporting weight loss. Like all prescription medicines, it can cause side effects. Most are mild and temporary, but some may require medical attention.


⚠️ Serious Side Effects

Common (up to 1 in 10 people)

Complications of diabetic eye disease (retinopathy)
If you experience new or worsening vision changes while using Ozempic, speak with your Slim Clinic doctor as soon as possible.


Occasional (up to 1 in 100 people)

Inflamed pancreas (acute pancreatitis)
Seek urgent medical help if you notice:

  • Severe and ongoing stomach pain

  • Pain spreading to your back

  • Nausea or vomiting

These may be signs of pancreatitis.


Rare (up to 1 in 1,000 people)

Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis, angioedema)
Stop using the medication and get immediate medical care if you experience:

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat

  • Trouble swallowing

  • Rapid heartbeat


Not known (cannot be estimated)

Intestinal blockage
A very severe form of constipation that may include:

  • Strong abdominal pain

  • Bloating

  • Vomiting

Seek medical attention right away if these symptoms occur.


Other Side Effects

Very Common (more than 1 in 10 people)
  • Nausea (usually settles with time)

  • Diarrhoea (usually improves)

  • Low blood sugar when combined with sulfonylureas or insulin


Common (up to 1 in 10 people)

  • Vomiting

  • Low blood sugar with certain diabetes medications

  • Indigestion

  • Gastritis (stomach pain, nausea, vomiting)

  • Heartburn / acid reflux

  • Stomach discomfort

  • Bloating

  • Constipation

  • Belching

  • Gallstones

  • Dizziness

  • Fatigue

  • Weight loss

  • Reduced appetite

  • Gas (flatulence)

  • Increased pancreatic enzymes (lipase, amylase)

Warning signs of low blood sugar include:
Cold sweats, pale skin, headache, fast heartbeat, nausea, intense hunger, blurred vision, weakness, shaking, anxiety, or confusion.
Your Slim Clinic clinician may adjust your treatment to reduce this risk.


Occasional (up to 1 in 100 people)

  • Changes in taste

  • Faster pulse

  • Injection-site reactions (pain, redness, itching, bruising)

  • Mild allergic skin reactions (rash, itching, hives)

  • Slower gastric emptying
